developer.hsbc.com  provides documentation and a sandbox for the Open Banking APIs provided by members of the HSBC Group. The data provided through the associated APIs relates to the UK only, and is prepared to the Open API, data format and security standards as maintained by the Open Banking Implementation Entity (OBIE).

This document sets out the Terms and Privacy Statement ('Terms') of developer.hsbc.com (the 'Site'), and apply to your use of this Site together with the provision and use of any data obtained through APIs hosted on or accessed via this Site, to the extent allowed by law. By accessing this Site, you agree to be bound by the Terms and so, before using this Site, you should read the Terms carefully. We may change the content or services found on this Site at any time without notice, and consequently our Terms may change at any time in the future. You agree to revisit this page regularly and your continued access to or use of the Site will mean that you agree to the changes. In the event of any conflict between these Terms and the provisions of any applicable licence to use the APIs under the Open Banking framework, then those licence terms take priority.

About developer.hsbc.com

This Site gives you information about the open banking APIs provided by us and the other companies in our group. The Site is an information source and sandbox to inform software developers how to access our Open Banking APIs. You cannot purchase products or services from developer.hsbc.com directly.

The Site is currently intended for those who access it from within the United Kingdom. Because of this we cannot guarantee that the Site or the information thereon complies with law or regulation, or is appropriate for use, in other places.

The provision of financial services or products

HSBC Holdings plc does not offer financial services or products and HSBC Holdings plc's operation of the Site, the APIs, or the sandbox, does not constitute an offer of any products or services provided by any of the HSBC Group members.

Privacy

We know that you are concerned with how your personal information is dealt with. This privacy statement sets out our current policies and demonstrates our commitment to your privacy.

Please also note that the HSBC Group provides financial products and services through its affiliated companies and branches located across the world. Privacy and personal data protection principles vary from one country to another. When you access or link to a Local Site, please read the privacy statement issued by the Local Site to determine the policies that apply to information or data maintained by the Local Site.

HSBC's business has been built on trust between us and our customers. To preserve the confidentiality of all customer information:

  • HSBC will only collect information that it believes to be relevant and required to understand the customer's financial needs and to conduct HSBC's business.
  • HSBC will use customer information to provide customers with better customer services and products.
  • HSBC may pass customer information to other HSBC Group companies or agents, as permitted by law.

Use of any data obtained via the Site’s APIs is governed by the licensing framework of Open Banking.

Copyright in the pages, screens, information, and all material in their arrangement, included in the Site or any Local site is owned by or licensed to us or the HSBC Group unless otherwise noted. You may imprint, copy, download or temporarily store extracts from the Site or any Local site for your personal information or when you use any products and services of any Local Site. You may not alter or otherwise make any changes to any material that you print or download from the Site or any Local Site, including, without limitation, removing any identifying marks or legends from such material. You may not distribute these materials to others. Any other use is prohibited unless you first request and obtain our written permission. In particular, no one may use a part of the Site or any Local site on any other website, or link any other website to the Site or any Local Site, without our prior written permission or the consent of the relevant HSBC Group member.

Content from a third party provider available on or through the Site or any Local Site may not be duplicated, distributed, published, transferred, transmitted, copied, altered, sold, used to create derivative works or otherwise misused. Governing law

The Terms are governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of England and Wales and the courts of the above jurisdiction will have exclusive jurisdiction in respect of any dispute, which may arise.
